Once upon a wave... amidst the endless horizon of azure waters, two kindred spirits found each other through their shared love for surfing. Little did they know that this serendipitous encounter would mark the genesis of an extraordinary odyssey that would forever redefine the world of women's surf lifestyle. Thus, Salted emerged.
Fuelled by a fierce desire to create something extraordinary, these best friends embarked on a mission to infuse inclusivity and empowerment into the fabric of Australian swimwear. They recognized the need for comfortable and versatile pieces that would seamlessly accompany women in their active pursuits—be it running, swimming, surfing, or practicing yoga. Their vision went beyond mere apparel; they aspired to craft a brand that would celebrate the innate beauty and athleticism of women, igniting a spark of confidence and style that transcends the boundaries of the water.

Every step of the way, Salted made conscious choices to protect our planet. With a relentless commitment to quality, Salted ensured that every piece they created was not only flattering and practical but also thoughtfully crafted to minimize their ecological footprint. They believed that women shouldn't have to compromise their values for style or comfort, and so Salted emerged as a pioneer in the world of ethical surf and activewear.
Salted's story is a reminder that through passion, friendship, and a deep respect for our planet, we can create something truly remarkable.
Join the Salted crew, where surf, athleticism, and style converge, and together let's ride the waves of change towards a brighter and more inclusive future.

How we....
Minimise our impact on the planet.

Recycled fabrics
When Salted started we wanted to ensure recycled fabrics were used where ever possible.

By using recycled fabrics, we are reducing the demand for valuable resources such as water, energy, and fossil fuels.

Our swimwear fabric starts its journey as fishing nets, carpet flooring, fabric scraps and plastic from landfills and oceans all over the world. This waste is collected through different initiatives and projects managed by the Healthy Seas https://www.healthyseas.org organisation.

After a regeneration and purification process the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity: it’s not just as good as new, but better for our planet. By regenerating waste and not using any virgin materials we are saving finite resources and energy whilst also reducing carbon emissions.

These yarns are then created into fabric using our unique designs – the essence of our collections. Our high quality nylon fabric is made with ECONYL® & REPREVE. Our fabric is buttery soft, but durable: it holds its shape to last.

  • ECONYL is 100% regenerated nylon fibres from waste such as fishnets and industrial plastics.
  • REPREVE is a performance fibre made from 100% recycled P.E.T such as plastic water bottles.

Most of our items are reversible, which means you get two in one – good for us and great for the planet! We also design our bikinis to mix & match and sell them as separates to ensure you find your ultimate faves. All our items can be used on land and in the water.

Because we aim to be a sustainable company through our products, production and packaging, we only produce a limited quantity at a time. We choose to make only a calculated amount to limit waste during production and avoid all surplus manufacturing. We refuse to contribute to wasted fabric: all excess fabric is used to create our scrunchies and sampling for new styles.

Our custom fabrics are digitally printed with OEKO-TEX certified dyes (no nasty or harmful chemicals used that impact the planet or human health).

Digital printing is a greener printing process that enhances colour vibrancy while reducing water usage and fabric wastage from colour bleeds.

Reducing energy & co2
At Salted, our priorities aren’t just to reduce waste though - we want to create ocean and active wear that also has a minimal carbon footprint. By using recycled polyester, we’re using 33% to 53% less energy than creating polyester from scratch. Recycled polyester also produces approx. 54.6% fewer co2 emissions to the air than virgin polyester.
Ethics
Salted will always make sure that all parties we work with align with our core values of sustainable and ethical practices. This has been of paramount importance to us since our inception and we'll make sure to continue to better our practices.
